The RBC® Black History Month Student Essay Competition

We're proud that Black History Month has become an important time to recognize the contributions black Canadians have made to our country. If you are a student applying to college or university, tell us your story of how one or more black Canadians have helped define Canada's diverse heritage and identity through their specific achievements and contributions.

We're giving away 20 scholarships, including three Grand Prizes:

First Prize: $5,000 scholarship
Second prize: $2,500 scholarship
Third prize: $1,500 scholarship
