(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) – The Sea Pines Resort – Hilton Head’s most celebrated leisure retreat – has achieved Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its world-class Beach Club by the U.S. Green Building Council.

LEED is a green building certification program recognizing best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects must demonstrate they save money and resources as well as a positive impact on the health of occupants while promoting renewable, clean energy. The Sea Pines Resort is the first destination property in the Hilton Head area to receive this award.

The Sea Pines Beach Club’s green initiatives include proximity to public transportation, bicycle storage, protected native vegetation, optimized energy performance, storm water control, solar reflective indexing, water efficiency, use of recycled materials and regional materials.

"The Sea Pines Resort is proud to contribute to global green initiatives like LEED by designing ecologically sustainable structures for our home owners, members and guests to enjoy," says Steve Birdwell, President of The Sea Pines Resort.

The two-story 25,000-square-foot Sea Pines Beach Club presents an inviting seaside atmosphere with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and distant Tybee Island. The facility provides year-round enjoyment for resort guests and property owners with an array of family-friendly amenities including dining, retail and special event space.
