Following on from the guilty verdict he received on June 22nd, 2022, after his case in The High Court on Montserrat, Attorney-at-law Warren Cassell was today sentenced to to 3 years and 6 months in prison. 

Warren Cassell was charged and found guilty by a jury of his peers, consisting of seven women and two males, for concealing the proceeds of criminal conduct contrary to section 33(1) (a) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1999, Caption 4.04. - Montserrat. 

Between January 2007 and November 2008, Cassell is believed to have dishonestly concealed or disguised EC$855,380.54 by transferring the funds from an investor’s account into an incorporated account for the sale of lands on Montserrat. 

Today's sentence of 3.5 years was delivered by Justice Stanley John. 

During the trial, Richard Jory QC, Henry Gordon and DPP Oris Sullivan appeared for the Prosecution, whilst Cassell represented himself.
