Former Parliamentary Secretary on Montserrat in the previous MCAP Administration, Jermaine Wade, appeared on ZJB Radio on the morning of Thursday, October 27th, 2016, and made a statement, in effect announcing his Candidacy to contest the Parliamentary seat now left vacant following the resignation of Former Leader of the Opposition Reuben T Meade.

Wade, who remains an unelected member of MCAP, has decided to break free from the party apparatus, it appears, and work independently to win this now vacant seat. The two elected members of MCAP that serve in the Legislative Assembly as Members of the Opposition are Reuben T Meade (resigned), and Easton Taylor-Farrell.
