#WhiteSupremacyKills: Civil Rights and Gun Reform Groups Demand Change, Launch "Ten Actions" Campaign

WASHINGTON – On the two-year anniversary of the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Va. that tragically killed Heather Heyer, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights launchedWhiteSupremacyKills.org. This site features ten direct actions everyone in America can take to help end white supremacy in all its forms.

The ten actions include:

• demanding an end to Trump’s racist rhetoric and policies;

• holding social media companies accountable to their role in fighting hate;

• demanding action from community leaders;

• committing to register and vote;

• challenging Congress to pass common-sense gun safety laws and stronger hate crimes laws;

• telling the Senate to stop confirming extremist judicial nominees;

• ending family separation and the dehumanization of immigrants; and

• pledging to fill out the 2020 Census.

“Words of hate beget acts of hate. Policies of violence beget acts of violence,” said Vanita Gupta, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference. “On the second anniversary of Charlottesville and just days after the latest white supremacist violence in El Paso, Texas, we must honor all victims of hate with more than words: we must organize to take action.”

WhiteSupremacyKills.org also highlights key steps that the public can take to help fight hate through actions led by coalition members and ally organizations such as Muslim Advocates, NAACP, the Arab American Institute, Census Counts, and Communities Against Hate.
