The Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) is dedicated to elevating the economic development of the Black Business Community (BBC).  We are committed to conducting the required collaboration and research that delivers evidence-based solutions that improve the lives and strengthen economic growth within the BBC. The CBCC is seeking multiple experienced, energetic and collaborative individuals who will play a key support role in achieving the CBCC’s core mission and serving our amazing membership through the position of Business Advisor. 

Position Summary:

Business Advisors are responsible for advising members and participants of CBCC’s programs.  Advisors assist entrepreneurs in planning and executing business strategies to improve efficiency in the operational and financial management of their businesses.

The Business Advisors may facilitate groups, provide one on one assistance, assist with preparation of budgets, advise on projects and marketing, and perform risk analysis.  They will assist entrepreneurs with streamlining efficiency, increasing productivity and profitability, and assist in improving marketing strategy.

To succeed in this position, the advisor should possess an exceptional track record in evaluating such areas as business processes, marketing strategies, finances, and business ideation work. Suitable Business Advisors are experts in improving business strategies, productivity, accountability, and group facilitation.

Additionally, the Business Advisor should be competent with motivation, encouragement, and operate with a high degree of empathy and patience.
 

Business Advisor Responsibilities:

  • Analyse financial records and prepare budgets.
  • Improve processes by recommending operational changes.
  • Evaluate and improve sales, marketing, and branding strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for future business development and expansion.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external communication channels.
  • Analyse and advise on employee, labor, vendor, and supplier contracts.
  • Perform risk analysis to mitigate and manage risks.
  • Analyse consumer and competitor behavior.
  • Facilitate program classes and curriculum modules
  • Provide motivation and accountability with empathy as a guide.

Business Advisor Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Business Advisor in a related industry.
  • General knowledge of business operations and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in analyzing budgets and preparing financial reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing strategies and branding.
  • Experience in project management and implementing best industry practices.
  • Ability to advise on labor, vendor, and supplier procurement issues.
  • Exceptional ability to identify future business opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills toward efficiently communicating new business processes and procedures and motivating program participants.
  • Competence in leading group facilitation and presenting
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) and or 10+ years in business ownership or related experiences.

Salary Range:  Competitive salary and benefit package.  The expected start date is December 20, 2021.
