Medical Technologist

The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Medical Technologist, within the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

JOB PURPOSE

To produce laboratory test results in a timely and accurate manner to aid other health care givers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases to facilitate testing in the various disciplines to include, Hematology, Biochemistry, Bacteriology and Molecular Testing in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain an effective, efficient and documented quality control programme.
• Perform necessary maintenance of equipment, and complies with safety procedures.
• Record all patient and test data, process and distribute patient results and other information.
• Provide a safe supply of blood for transfusion.
• Provide relevant advice and information on tests and test procedures to stakeholders.
• Participate in emergency on-call duties as per rota.
• Perform any other duties appropriately assigned by the laboratory supervisor.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

The applicant should:-

• Possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biological Science
• Have at least three (3) years' experience as a Medical Technologist
• Be a good team player and be able to work in a resource limited environment
• Have good written and oral communication skills and demonstrate a competency in personal effectiveness.
  
  

  Basic Salary

  R22- R16:    XCD $50,976.00 - $60,480.00 / Year

  12.50% of Basic Salary
